This study aims to demonstrate the feasibility and acceptability of instant messaging communication to supplement medical education for medical students whilst on clinical attachment. Opening a chat, WhatsApp will show Dark Bubbles and a Dark Wallpaper (they are dynamic, so when you switch the theme, their style will be changed too).Instant messaging applications have the potential to improve and facilitate communication between hospital doctors and students, hence generating and improving learning opportunities. Once opened, WhatsApp will show the dark chats list:

WhatsApp for iOS has a Dark Splash Screen (with a redesigned WhatsApp Logo): When you update to the beta version, open WhatsApp, wait until a connection is found and kill WhatsApp: open WhatsApp again and you can start to use the dark theme. Seen that WhatsApp only uses iOS 13 APIs, WhatsApp doesn’t offer a Dark theme for lower iOS versions than iOS 13 (the same happened for Instagram, in fact the concept is very similar).

The Dark Theme uses iOS 13 APIs to understand if the system uses dark colors: when the user enables Dark Mode, from the control center, WhatsApp will start to automatically present dark UI elements. The developed Dark Theme is an improved version of the previous one that WhatsApp was working on, with no battery drain, supporting official iOS 13 APIs and it respects Apple guidelines (exactly like Instagram).

WhatsApp started to work on the Dark Theme with the official 2.18.100 update (October 22, 2018!).įinally, thanks to iOS 13, WhatsApp has decided to release the feature. If you have reinstalled the app and the feature persists to not be enabled, unfortunately the only thing that you can do is to wait the next update: the feature will be automatically enabled very soon for everyone, when WhatsApp will start to expand the test!Īfter releasing the Dark theme for 2.20.13 Android beta update, I’m very happy to announce that WhatsApp is finally rolling out the Dark Theme for iOS beta users today!.If you have already updated to the most recent beta version available and you don’t see the feature, please back up your chat history and reinstall WhatsApp if you don’t want to wait more.Įvery time you reinstall WhatsApp, the most updated configurations from the server are downloaded, enabling the feature for you.The Dark Theme will be released for stable versions later. It’s necessary to update to the beta version. The WhatsApp Messenger and Business 2.20.20 App Store iOS releases won’t receive the feature remotely.WhatsApp Business beta for iOS 2.20.30.16 already supports the dark theme.Other features listed below are available in this update. You need to update WhatsApp to the 2.20.30.25 beta version from TestFlight, in order to enable the Dark Mode feature.
